Pay: $21.40/hour

Schedule: Starting times and hours may vary based on attendance coverage, production schedules, and seasonal business needs, including holidays.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…

As a Packaging Machine Operator, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality products to consumers by operating packaging equipment safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will help maximize production output, minimize waste, maintain quality standards, and provide leadership on the packaging line to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO…

Packaging Equipment Operations

  • Safely operate and monitor snack packaging machinery to support continuous production.
  • Review production schedules and plan equipment and material needs accordingly.
  • Monitor packaging codes, dates, and pricing information to ensure product accuracy.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of roll stock and packaging materials.
  • Adjust machine settings and micro-logic controls to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Perform machine setups, startups, shutdowns, sanitation activities, and product changeovers.
  • Plan and execute efficient changeovers between products to minimize downtime.

Quality & Production Monitoring

  • Monitor machine performance to ensure production standards are met.
  • Verify proper film cutoffs and package seal integrity, including end seals and back seals.
  • Monitor product weights and appearance to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Ensure machines operate at standard production speeds.
  • Properly account for product run-off and coordinate rework of acceptable product.
  • Maintain accurate product quality standards throughout the shift.

Equipment Care & Troubleshooting

  • Keep packaging machines and surrounding work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and blow-down activities as required.
  • Identify equipment issues and immediately notify Maintenance or Production Leadership.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and improve productivity.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide leadership and direction to the packaging line.
  • Support and coordinate activities with Packers and other production team members.
  • Serve as a backup Packaging Coordinator or other technical/skilled positions when qualified.
  • Monitor and replenish seasoning systems, where applicable, to ensure proper product coverage.

Safety, Sanitation & Housekeeping

  • Follow all safety, food safety, and hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Store supplies and materials in designated locations.
  • Keep aisles, exits, and workspaces clear and free from obstructions.
  • Follow safe lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling procedures.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and workplace injuries promptly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work overtime as required to support business needs.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

You will serve as a key member of the packaging operation and help ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or one (1) year of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Ability to safely operate packaging and production equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setups, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and follow production schedules and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to production team members.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and move materials throughout the shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift 40+ pounds and occasionally move heavier loads with assistance.
  • Willingness to work varying schedules and mandatory overtime as required.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Previous packaging machine operation experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments.
  • Experience performing machine setups, product changeovers, and equipment adjustments.
  • Experience leading production teams or serving in a lead operator role.
  • Knowledge of packaging film systems, bagging equipment, and automated packaging machinery.
  • Experience troubleshooting production equipment.
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, and 5S principles.
  • Experience serving as a Packaging Coordinator or similar technical production role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Loud production environment requiring adherence to PPE and safety requirements.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to routinely handle materials weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
