JobCroissant's Take
This overnight artisan baker role in New Bedford combines traditional pastry techniques like sheeting laminated doughs and shaping bread with practical daily craft such as mixing from scratch, panning, proofing, and finishing croissants and rolls, which will appeal to bakers passionate about hands-on savoir-faire. The schedule is demanding - 11 pm starts, 8-hour standing shifts, and regular heavy lifting - but the full-time 40-hour contract, a competitive pay range of $20 to $25/hour, and benefits including health, dental, vision, and an employee discount make this a solid, stable option for someone seeking reliable income and workplace support.
The job emphasizes punctuality, speed, and careful temperature and timing control, offering clear opportunities to hone technical skills and consistency in a fast-paced production environment, while the need to communicate product availability with par sheets shows a connection to front-of-house operations and team collaboration. For a baker who values craftsmanship, enjoys early-morning production rhythms, and seeks steady hours with benefits in a region with pleasant coastal character, this could be a very good fit.
